Best Practices for Instagram Reels

Now that you know the reason behind IG reel trends, let me share with you my five best practices in using reels:

  1. Jump on a trend before it begins to fade - To stay on top of trends, search for other influencers' content to see what they're posting.
  2. Post more than 30 words for your captions - According to Instagram, videos do better with captions that contain at least 30 words.
  3. Consider posting shorter videos of at least 5 - 15 sec - Short reels tend to loop and will count as multiple views. This increases the likelihood that your video will show up in other users' feeds.
  4. Use 3-5 Hashtags to define keywords - This can help the IG algorithm serve your content to relevant audiences.
  5. Post reels at optimal times - To maximize the potential audience of your Reels, you should publish your Reels when your audience is most likely to be online and interacting with brands.

Instagram Reels Ideas You Can Try!

So I'm going to share with you my 5 IG reel ideas to maximize your business on Instagram.

  • Bring Tweets to your gram - Tweets perform well on Instagram, making them an ideal source of inspiration for Reels content. You can use your Twitter posts to create video reels by overlaying screenshots of the posts over a video B-roll.
  • Create Graphic Quotes - Instead of posting static graphics on your gram, consider turning them into short video clips.
  • Time Static Photos to Trending Audio - Instagram has recently introduced Reels templates, which allow you to create time-stamped videos and add them to your account. The Reels are labeled with a "Use template" tag.
  • Use Remix Feature - This is the latest feature that Instagram is currently pushing out, where you don't need to create original content from scratch, you can just react to other creators' video content.
  • Create a Timelapse Video - Using Behind The Scenes video as a video B-roll under your onscreen text will help your viewers engage with your video reels.

And here's a step-by-step guide to creating an Instagram Reel:

  1. Find your best Audio - Before making videos, look for audio by looking at other creators' reels, then tap the square icon at the bottom right of your phone, and tap "Use Audio."
  2.  Look for filters - Instagram lets users apply various effects and filters to videos.
  3. Set the length of your video, then record using the timer tool.
  4. Post & share your IG Reels.

It takes a lot of time and effort to keep up with the latest trends on Instagram Reels, especially if you are a one-person team.

Yet, you do not need to be an expert video editor (or dancer) to use Reels. The simplest ones often prove the most useful when it comes to reaching your goals on Instagram.

These are some great tips to maximize your business on Instagram using IG Reels. Although TikTok remains the trending app of the moment. Instagram is still a leading cultural influence.
