October 28, 2019
According to the latest report of Data Portal, there are 4.48 billion social media users around the world, which is equivalent to 57% of the total population. With that being said, social media is a great platform to advertise your business.
One of the most important things that you need to focus on when you’re using social media as a tool for your business is to build your audience. The crucial part of it is you need to make sure that you’re talking to the set of people, people who have the problem to the solution you’re going to sell.
Here’s some of the tips for you if you want to grow your audience is social media:
1.Be 100% clear who are your ideal clients
Knowing your ideal clients not only means you know them by demographics, you need to know them more than that. Conducting market research will help you get in-depth insights about their problems, goals and wants. How will you conduct market research? It can be done through sending email surveys, social listening, monitoring your competitor and talking to your ideal clients one-on-one.
When you really know who your ideal clients are, it will be easier for you to sell your product or service.
2.Choose a social media platform where your ideal clients are hanging out.
Aside from knowing your ideal clients’ pain points and pleasure points, you also need to know where they are hanging out. Do they spend most of their time on Facebook? Are they active on Instagram?
Do they love to save pins? Do they love watching mini videos or a vlog? You need to understand the interest of your audience. Be present in the place where they spend most of their time. When creating social media strategy for your business, you need to consider the platform that your ideal clients love to spend their time with.
3.Create content that resonates with your ideal clients
If you’re already publishing content and you hear crickets everytime you post, it’s because your content does not speak to your audience. This is also where your market research comes into play, since you already know what your ideal clients’ pain points and goals are, create content that highlights their problems and goals and share how they can move away from that problem or draw them closer to their goal.
Create content that focuses on empathy and authority. You can gain your audience’s trust once you share similarities with them but don’t forget to share your expertise, so you can position yourself as their to-go person on a certain subject.
4.Engage and build relationships
In this day and age, it is so easy for us to connect with our audience with the use of social media, sending a message is just one click away, but you know why it’s still hard to build an audience? Because of a lack of genuine connection, you can’t just DM people and invite them to follow you right away.
As humans, we yearn for human connection, we love to talk about our own experiences and listen to others. So engage, share your story, give someone a reason to follow you.
5.Analyze your data
Last but not the least, check your analytics. It’s the best way to identify if you are on the right track or you need some tweak on your strategy. It’s important to check your analytics every now and then to gain insights with your audience. Every social media platform has this feature and knowing how to analyze them is very crucial because they will lead you to your next move.
To wrap it up
When building your audience, think of the people you want to serve and the people who have the problem that your offer can solve. Vanity metrics is out in the game, what you need to do is to be clear with your messaging, build a genuine relationship and be visible so it will be easier for your ideal clients to find you. At the end of the day, the goal of growing your audience is to turn them into paying clients and if the people who see your content are not the people who need you, then you are still invisible.
